Association with the ‘Net Zero Sea Alliance‘ to promote maritime decarbonisation and electrification

Puerto Banús is a member of the ‘Net-Zero Sea Alliance’, a non-profit platform promoted by Iberdrola, focused on the decarbonisation and electrification of maritime operations and open to all agents in the logistics chain. It was born with the aim of positioning the Spanish maritime industry as a leader in the electrification of ports and in the decarbonisation of maritime transport. ‘Net-Zero MAR’ also has the purpose of making ports much more sustainable infrastructures.

CO2 is one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect and, therefore, of global warming and climate change. For this reason, and to be on the path to full decarboniSation by 2050, 5% of maritime transport fuels must be decarboniSed by 2030.

On November 21, 2021, the ‘Net-Zero MAR Alliance’ was born and, since then, it has been available to all agents, companies and institutions that want to join forces to reduce polluting emissions generated by infrastructure and maritime transport.

Among the members that have joined the initiative to date and have contributed to its promotion are:

Port Authority of Valencia (Valenciaport), Baleària, Bound4Blue, Valenciaport Foundation, Gimeno Group, Junquera Group, Iberdrola, Ingeteam, Technological Energy Institute (ITE), MAN Energy Solutions Spain, MSC Terminal (Mediterranean Shipping Cruises), Navantia, Ormazabal (Velatia), PortCastelló, Port of Alicante, Puerto Banús, PYMAR, Seaplace, Roca Castellón Consignaciones, Tecnalia, Tubacex, Polytechnic University of Valencia
