Promotion and visibility for the consumption of sustainable products created by national talents
Sustainable consumption and production seeks to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, increase resource efficiency, and promote sustainable lifestyles. For this reason, from Puerto Banús, with Born to Surprise, we promote the visibility and consumption of environmentally friendly products, created by national talents.
During Easter, from April 6 to 9, some of the best national design talents gathered at Puerto Banús at Born to Surprise: Emerging Designers Market that over 50,000 people enjoyed, within a wide variety of content created for the whole family, designed to enjoy the experience to the fullest; national design, workshops for children and adults, live concerts, and gastronomy.
This market has had the objective of offering a selection of excellent quality products and national design created by the hands of artists, and to encourage the emergence of talents in fashion design, accessories and crafts, supporting work and consumption of products that respect the environment.
The first edition of Born to Surprise received around twenty young men’s/women’s fashion, jewelry, decoration, accessories and illustration designers who had the opportunity to exhibit their products to the public in Marbella and to the large influx of tourists.
The award-winning and excellent national craftsmanship was also part of Born to Surprise, since from Puerto Banús we invited the three artisans who won the 1st Edition of the Master Craftsman Award granted by Círculo Fortuny in Madrid. In 2022, winners were Laurentino de Cabo, a weaver from León who makes woolen blankets and textiles by hand, Luis Machí, an artist from La Mancha who makes exclusive pieces with blown glass, and Manuel Fernández, from Cuchillería Fernández, a family firm that has been manufacturing handmade unique pieces of collector’s knives since 1930.
Born to Surprise market, in addition to top-notch designers, featured a series of very special free concerts by Dry Martina, vedette singer-songwriter and Spanish artist awarded with two MIN independent music awards, Shining Soul, formed by Adriana Rogan together with the instrumental base of Malaka Youth, Fran Terrén, singer and composer from Málaga and Soleá Morente, one of the current stars of flamenco.
