Starlite celebrated the ninth edition of its charity gala in Marbella this Saturday, at which it collected funds for the Niños en Alegría and Lágrimas y Favores  foundations. Puerto Banús auctioned a unique experience as part of the inauguration of the gala. The prize consisted of one day’s sailing for ten people on the Mediterranean on a yacht from Ventura Yachts, on which the lucky winners will enjoy a culinary experience prepared by the chef Dani García and his restaurant, the holder of two Michelin stars, “Lobito de Mar”.

Puerto Banús auctions an experience valued at over €20,000

The winner will also benefit from a VIP access card to the car park at Puerto Banús. All making up a unique experience valued at more than €20,000. The hosts for the gala were the actor Antonio Banderas and the head of Starlite, Sandra García-Sanjuán. The presenters of the event were the humorist Carlos Latre, who imitated different artists, and the Argentinian model and entrepreneur Valeria Mazza.

Starlite rewards the philanthropy of international personalities

During the ceremony, the philanthropic work of different personalities was recognised. One of those distinguished was the journalist Isabel Gemio, who created a foundation that bears her name in 2008, to promote research into muscular dystrophy and other rare illnesses. The Colombian singer Juanes received another award for his commitment to the children and young people of his country of birth through his foundation Mi Sangre.

The rock singer Miguel Ríos was also distinguished with an award for his famous adaptation of the ‘Ode to Joy’ by Beethoven. Another of those recognised was the medical researcher Oriol Mitjà, who works to eradicate yaws, a skin disease which affects thousands of poorer children in Africa and the Pacific. The event also included the traditional ‘kiss auction’, with the participation of the actors Santiago Segura and Antonio Banderas, and performances by Sara Baras, Juanes, Miguel Ríos and Juan Magán, who closed the evening with his Electro-Latin rhythms.
