MOST of Spain has been declared under extreme risk for fires as the heatwave continues and the state weather office is not entirely sure how long it will last.
Although Ana Casals, spokeswoman for the AEMET weather office, announced that temperatures would fall slightly in the northern and central parts of the country, Andalucia, Aragon, Castilla La Mancha, Cataluña and Madrid have yellow alerts in place for high temperatures all weekend and are joined on Sunday by Aragon, Castillo y Leon, Extremadura and Murcia.
Casals explained that temperatures are once again expected to go beyond 40 degrees Celsius as of Monday (July 13) and are likely to last until at least Thursday (July 16).
